Overview
Users have been limited with our Basic scheduler because it required that all lessons follow the same day schedule. The Custom Scheduler is our newest scheduling feature which allows training managers to schedule lessons to go out on unique dates and times.
Training managers can now schedule each lesson at the right time, ensuring relevancy and timing accuracy for the learner.
✅ This is great for keeping a group of learners on track against a specific schedule, ensuring they get their lesson content at exactly the right time. For example, you could use this to send reinforcement lessons right after in-person training sessions.
❌ We don't recommend using when you want to give learners optionality in how they receive their learning, or if you want to ensure learners respond to each question before receiving their next lesson.
Example use cases:
You want to “drip” training out to users over multiple weeks once per week, without the desire to enroll users in a new experience each time.
You want to schedule lessons 1-4 to go out on Mon-Thurs, then wait 10 days before sending lessons 5-7 which are meant for reinforcement.
Keep all learners getting content on a schedule that aligns with in-person training sessions.
Limitations to consider:
A custom schedule cannot be edited once the first day and time has passed
Learners should never get any lesson pushed to them at any point other than the delivery date and time.
If any lessons are added to a course that has a live custom schedule, the admin must then edit the schedule to add delivery dates and times for those lessons.
Any missed content due to errors or pausing/resuming enrollment will forever be missed
Same-day scheduling for lessons must be set an hour or more apart (example: if lesson 1 and 2 are both scheduled to send on 03/24, they be set an hour or more apart)
Learners can be enrolled in a Custom Schedule anytime > 1 hour before the first lesson is set to deliver.
Required responses are not available for Custom Schedules, because the idea is that admins are trying to prescribe when content is delivered and thus keep every learner on the same cadence.
Response reminders should hopefully help keep people on track between lessons.
The custom scheduler cannot be used for WhatsApp because it would be a very poor learner experience given the learner needs to respond START and the one message per 24-hour window requirement.
