Outgoing SMS Messages and Sender IDs (Carrier Restriction)

All outgoing SMS messages that start a new conversation (Activation Messages or Lesson Body) will include a sender ID in order to comply with carrier restrictions.

The Sender ID is required by carriers when starting a new conversation, or sending a message after being the last to have sent a message already, as well as in an Activation Message.

Requirements:

  • We will include the Client name at the start of every message sent to the learner for consistency.

  • The Sender ID for your organization can be set up and managed by an Admin in Settings > Organization. It will default to the first 30 characters of the Organization's name.

  • The max character count enforced in the UI open creation is 30 characters

  • Clicking the "use channel name as Sender ID" checkbox (in Organization Settings), will default to using SMS channel name instead when added to a schedule. This is recommended for customers where a Channel is always used to push out training via SMS to employees.

Pro Tip: For admins who are testing a course using preview mode, you will see the Sender ID Name and Not the Channel Name unless you enroll in an active schedule that has the SMS channel name selected.
