Overview

Update Release Date: June 6, 2025

The Arist Teams app is receiving an important update that introduces multi-course functionality. This enhancement allows your team members to participate in multiple training courses simultaneously without interference between conversations.

What's New

The updated Teams app introduces a dedicated Courses tab alongside the existing Chat functionality. This new interface enables learners to:

  • Access multiple courses concurrently without conversation threads overlapping

  • Switch seamlessly between different training programs

  • Maintain separate progress and discussion threads for each course

  • Continue existing courses with full message history preserved

Previously, the Teams app supported only single-threaded conversations in the Chat tab, limiting users to one active course at a time.

What Your Team Can Expect

Standard Update Process

When your employees access the Arist app in Teams after June 6th, they'll experience this straightforward process:

  1. Initial Access

    • Users continue accessing Teams normally via desktop or web

    • The familiar Arist chat appears as usual initially

  2. Update Notification

    • After logging out and back into Teams, a small update banner appears at the top of the Arist chat

    • Banner message: "New version of Arist is available" with an "Update" button

  3. Update Installation

    • Clicking "Update" opens an app information dialog with an "Update now" button

    • Selecting "Update now" completes the installation process

  4. New Features Available

    • The new "Courses" tab appears next to the existing "Chat" tab

    • Users access the Courses tab to complete setup

  5. Permissions Setup

    • First-time access to Courses tab triggers a simple "Almost there!" prompt

    • Clicking "Continue" opens a permissions dialog requesting standard app access

    • Users click "Accept" to complete setup

  6. Ready to Use

    • Users can now access multiple courses through the Courses tab

    • Existing course history transfers automatically

    • Full multi-course functionality is active

  7. The same Course that was active on the Chat tab in Step 1 is now fully visible from the Courses tab, the Learner can seamlessly continue on from here

Important Note for Microsoft Teams Administrators

For Teams Admins: You have the ability to streamline this process significantly for your organization.

When Microsoft Teams Administrators (different from Arist admin users) encounter the permissions dialog, they'll see an additional option: "Consent on behalf of your organization."

We strongly recommend Teams Administrators:

  • Complete their own update process as soon as possible after June 6th

  • Select "Consent on behalf of your organization" when prompted

  • Click "Accept" to approve permissions for the entire tenant

Benefit: When a Teams Administrator provides organizational consent, all other users in your tenant will skip the permissions dialog entirely. They'll still see the update notification and app information, but won't need to individually approve permissions.

Process Variations

  • Update Notification Timing

    • The update banner may not appear immediately

    • Users may need to log out and back into Teams to see the notification

    • Clicking away from and back to the Arist app can help trigger the banner

  • Courses Tab Appearance

    • After clicking "Update now," the Courses tab usually appears within moments

    • If the tab doesn't appear immediately, clicking away from and back to the Arist app should display it

    • Some users may land directly on the Courses tab, while others need to click to access it manually

  • Multiple Update Prompts

    • Teams may occasionally show the update banner more than once

    • Users can safely click "Update" again or simply close the banner

    • Once the Courses tab is visible and accessible, the update is complete

User States After Update

  • For users with existing course activity:

    • Complete message history transfers to the appropriate course thread in the Courses tab

    • All previous progress and conversations remain intact

    • Users can immediately access their ongoing training

  • For users without prior course enrollment:

    • The Courses tab displays the enrollment management page

    • Users see a clean interface ready for new course assignments

    • Standard enrollment processes apply for new courses

  • For users with completed courses:

    • Previous course history remains accessible through the Courses tab

    • Users can review past training materials and conversations

    • Ready for new course enrollments

What Happens for Teams Users with the Arist Teams App newly installed?

If a Teams User has the Arist Teams App newly installed after the update publish date, they will have immediate access to the new features, without requiring any additional prompting, updating, or consenting.

No changes to the installation process have been made as a part of this update, all previously supported installation methods remain accessible.
